Sign upWhen using New Relic One to collect valuable data about your site or app, 0:00 you'll need a way to quickly view and make meaning of that data. 0:04 That's where New Relic One dashboards come in. 0:08 Once you log in, you're able to connect your website or application 0:12 data to New Relic One and build your first customizable dashboard in minutes. 0:16 Click the dashboard link in the top menu to create a dashboard, or view and 0:22 manage all dashboards associated with your New Relic account. 0:26 New Relic lets you test drive its dashboarding capabilities right out of 0:31 the box before adding any data of your own. 0:35 It gives you access to a public API performance dashboard. 0:38 These are popular applications that share information, and 0:42 provide their services to other websites, and 0:46 apps through something called an API, or application programming interface. 0:49 For example, with an API, 0:56 you can display the current weather report from a site like weather.com. 0:58 A list of popular tweets from Twitter, a map from Google, or 1:02 even images from Instagram and lots more on your website. 1:06 You'll learn all about APIs and how to create an API here at Treehouse. 1:11 There are thousands of APIs that programmers can tap into. 1:15 New Relic lists some of the most popular ones used by its customers here in this 1:20 handy dashboard. 1:23 It monitors and 1:25 shows you how these services work in real time to inform you about any delays or 1:26 performance issues that could affect applications using these services. 1:31 When you connect your site to New Relic One, 1:36 you can add any of the data you're collecting to a custom dashboard. 1:39 For example, I created a simple website that loads a new dog image each time you 1:43 click this button. 1:48 All the dog image data is being sent to my site from a third party site called 1:50 dog.ceo, which hosts a collection of free dog images. 1:55 I've already connected my website to New Relic One's browser monitoring feature 1:59 that measures the site speed and performance. 2:03 As users visit the site from different web browsers, devices and operating systems. 2:06 Over in the top menu, I'll click Browser, and there it is, Doggo Delight. 2:12 I'll click my site's name to view a summary of all the data 2:17 the New Relic platform is monitoring. 2:20 Here, I can review the time it takes my site's content to display to users, 2:24 its overall speed. 2:28 How users interact with it, and the overall functionality of my site, 2:29 and lots more. 2:34 All of these charts display useful information. 2:38 For my small site, 2:40 I want to be able to quickly review specific charts at a glance. 2:42 I can easily gather and 2:46 chart only the data I want to see by creating a dashboard. 2:47 First, I'll click Dashboards in the top menu and 2:52 then in the top right corner, click, create a dashboard. 2:55 I'll name my new dashboard, the name of the site, Doggo Delight. 3:00 Now I can go back to my charts and 3:05 select which charts I want to add to my dashboard. 3:07 For instance, I want to review the site's initial page load time in my dashboard, 3:11 that's this chart here. 3:15 Click the button in the top right corner of the chart, and 3:18 click Add to dashboard and select my new dashboard. 3:21 I'll do the same for Largest Contentful Paint, to monitor how fast the main 3:29 content of my site, like a dog image, is displayed to the user. 3:33 I also want to closely monitor which web browsers are used when viewing the site, 3:45 that's this chart here. 3:49 All set. 3:56 Finally, I'll click back to my dashboard where I'm able to see the charts I 4:00 just added, great. 4:04 As users interact with my site, 4:05 I'll be able to see all the data being updated here in real time. 4:07 I can even add new content to the dashboard, like a heading, description, 4:13 an image, by clicking the Add icon, then add text, images or links. 4:18 I'll click the Edit button to adjust my dashboard layout. 4:26 And there you have it, all of the important data I want to see, 4:39 conveniently in one place. 4:42
