Presentation Tools2:46 with Dan Gorgone
Tools like Keynote, PowerPoint, and Prezi can help you create new slide decks quickly.
Now, if you are giving a presentation and you want to put together a 0:00 slide deck, I highly recommend considering the 0:03 two biggest apps in the industry today. 0:07 You've got PowerPoint and Keynote. 0:09 Each one of these has tons of different 0:13 features that make putting together slide decks pretty nice. 0:15 Even a mobile version that can help you bring your slide decks with you. 0:19 Keynote is available 0:24 for free on new Macs. 0:25 I think on older Macs, it's about 20 bucks. 0:28 And the cost for PowerPoint varies depending on 0:30 the Microsoft Office package that you end up getting. 0:33 Now if you want to try something new however, Prezi at prezi.com is an online 0:39 presentation maker that allows you to design 0:45 everything online and store it there as well. 0:48 Just like Keynote and PowerPoint get lots of features. 0:50 And in fact, I wanna sort of kick out 0:54 there right now and just do a quick live demo 0:56 of a presentation that I threw together real fast just 0:58 to give you an idea of what it looks like. 1:01 So, again, it's prezi.com. 1:04 If we jump into this presentation here, you'll see, 1:06 alright, let's have a quick look at this tool. 1:09 Now, one of the first things you're gonna see is that it's got really cool 1:11 animation effects. 1:16 It's as if all the slides exist on a, on a space right there instead of just the 1:17 classic, you know, here's a slide, here's the next slide, here's the next slide. 1:23 It gives it a nice physical effect to it. 1:29 Now in addition to the cool animation effects, they have 1:32 lots of templates just like the other tools, Keynote and PowerPoint. 1:34 They have different color schemes, and you can modify almost 1:38 everything within the the template. 1:41 Online is, you know, where you can find this tool. 1:46 You can create and store these presentations online. 1:48 You can even embed YouTube videos and, you know, this is cool. 1:52 I'm not gonna play this here, but it'll start playing and, you know, it's a nice 1:56 little extra when you have some of that multimedia that you wanna feature. 2:01 But I know sometimes 2:06 in, in older tools, it's a little clugey and maybe it might suck up some 2:07 of the bandwidth and, and computing power on whatever device you've got. 2:13 To be able to pull that stuff from YouTube is pretty nice. 2:19 So prezi.com, that's something that I recommend to all of you if 2:23 you are doing presentations or, or if you anticipate that you might do 2:28 a presentation some time in the future. It's worth checking out. 2:32 It's free to use and there are some paid options as well, depending on your needs. 2:35 So PowerPoint, Keynote, and Prezi. Give those a look. 2:42
