Starting your Google Slides presentation.
[MUSIC] 0:00 Hi there, my name is Megan, and 0:09 I'm going to walk you through using Google Slides to create presentations. 0:11 Let's get started, and please, feel free to follow along. 0:17 There are two ways to create a new Google Slides presentation. 0:21 The first is to go to slides.google.com, and click on the + symbol. 0:25 The second is to go to your Google Drive at drive google.com, 0:32 and click on New > Google Slides. 0:38 Now that you've created a blank presentation, I like to make sure, 0:44 and change the name of the presentation, so it's easier to find later. 0:48 You can change the name of your presentation here in the top left corner. 0:54 Next, let's jump into choosing a template for the presentation. 1:00 When you create a new presentation, the themes sidebar will be visible. 1:04 You can scroll through and select a template that fits your audience, and 1:10 the type of presentation you are creating. 1:14 You can also import a theme yourself. 1:16 If you ever need to change the theme, 1:24 you can go to Slide > Change theme to bring the sidebar back. 1:27 With a theme chosen, let's switch gears, and 1:35 talk about the different types of slides available. 1:38 Each type of slide has its own designed to help highlight your information. 1:41 The slide options include, Title slide. 1:46 Section header. 1:54 Title and body. 1:59 Title and two columns. 2:02 Title only. 2:07 One column text. 2:11 Main point. 2:14 Section title and description. 2:18 Caption. 2:23 Big number. 2:26 And there's also a blank slide option, so 2:28 you can create a slide to fit your presentation needs. 2:31 Now that you know the basics of how to create a new presentation, 2:36 choose a theme, and what slides are available. 2:39 Let's jump into learning more about the tools that 2:43 you can use to edit your presentation, and fill it with content and visuals. 2:46 See you in the next video. 2:51
