Get rid of the <ul> elements around the <li> elements. only the first <ul> is necessary as it is the parent element.

<ul> (unordered list) tag is the parent of <li> (list items) tag. so if you just add one <ul> and then add the child elements <li> and then close with </ul>.

<ul> <li><a href="cakes.html">Cakes</a></li> <li><a href="pies.html">Pies</a></li> <li><a href="candy.html">Candy</a></li> </ul>
