Java Java Basics Getting Started with Java IO

Io excercise

My error is java can't find the symbol, but isn't console.printf correct?

IO.java
// I have imported java.io.Console for you. It is a variable called console.
String firstName = console.readLine("What is your name?   ");
String lastName = console.readLine("What is your last name?   ");
console.printf = ("First name: %s\n, firstName");

I see two issues:

  • there's a stray assignment operator between the method name and the arguments
  • the quote ending the format string it out of place
console.printf = ("First name: %s\n, firstName");    // original
console.printf("First name: %s\n", firstName);       // fixed
