Please help!

Please help me understand this

panda.py
class Panda:
    species = 'Ailuropoda melanoleuca'
    food = 'bamboo'

    def __init__(self, name, age):
        self.is_hungry = True
        self.age = age
        self.name = name
    def eat(self):
        self.is_hungry = False
        self.name = "Bao Bao"
        self.food = "bamboo"
        return f'{self.name} eats {self.food}.'

When the instructions say "...where 'Bao Bao' is the name attribute and 'bamboo' is the food attribute" they only mean for that specific example. They don't want you to actually change the name and food that were set when the instance was created.

The error you see when you run this is hinting at that when it says "Bummer: Make sure to use the attributes already in the class."

I'm having a hard time understanding even with your help, I guess I will restart the lesson and go from there. Thanks.

You basically have it, you just have a couple extra steps that aren't needed:

    def eat(self):
        self.is_hungry = False
        self.name = "Bao Bao"    # <-- remove this line
        self.food = "bamboo"     # <-- and this one
        return f'{self.name} eats {self.food}.'
