HTML Introduction to HTML and CSS Make It Beautiful With CSS Test: Styling by Element and Class

I've submitted <p> class="main-pg">My amazing website</p> and it keeps giving me "bummer..." with no reason why.

A space between <p> and "main-pg", but no other spaces . I added .main-pg { (example) } on the css tab, and still the "bummer...." I'm lost-seem to be doing everything right. Anybody see an error?

index.html
<!doctype html>
<html>
  <head>
    <link href="styles.css" rel="stylesheet">
  </head>
  <body>

    <p> class="main-pg">My amazing website</p>

  </body>
</html>
styles.css
.main-pg {
text-align: center
}
