Data Analysis Intermediate Excel Error Checking How To Check For Errors

What should we do when "F and R" replaces a cell's number(in copied formulas) to give us a redundant total?

While doing the "Find and Replace" exercise I noticed F and R changed cell F11 to F12 in the copied formula creating the same total for cells G11 and G12. We were instructed to use the feature to change the multiplier from 11 to 12. Is there a way to prevent this from happening, or is that something we have to account for when using this feature? Asking given error checking is part of this instructional.

Hi Kevin,

I'm going to attempt to answer this so please bear with me. So in this instruction Tyler stated he wanted to multiply by twelve, but typed in 11 to display the accident.

What is a little confusing is, like you; I just finished this video and the downloaded "Errors" file from the training notes, has some different values than what Tyler has. His selected data example beings at F2 but yours and mine started with F12. (I am not sure why... maybe this was an update that needs to be done?)

So Tyler mentions that he wants to take the start of this data and multiply it by twelve so the formula you and I entered looks like =F12*11 (per his instruction), then after the edit in the F&R component it should look like =F12*12. But again, his data for whatever reason is =F2*11, resolved with F2*12 after the F&R edit.

Does this make sense. You should not have to account for anything beyond the standard F&R procedure.

Hope this helps!

Hey Jordan,

Thank you for responding to my question. Although it is still unanswered, I appreciate the attempt to resolve my inquiry. I probably should have been clear that I didn't have an issue with the exercise itself. More noticed something that could be overlooked if you aren't paying attention to what you're changing. Given the limited amount of characters allowed for my question, I wasn't able to fully describe my issue. Also, from what you've mentioned, we may not have the same data, as mine starts at F2, like Tyler's. Anyways, I've attached an image link highlighting what I'm talking about. At the time, I believe I brought it up in hopes Treehouse will address it in future content.
