The commenting style of <!-- this comment --> allows you to make comments within your HTML. The other format of // this comment is for making comments in your JavaScript. CSS too has their own commenting syntax of /* this comment */ for adding comments within your CSS files.

the css comment style can also be used to comment multiple lines in javascript
