3D Transfrom Snaps in Chrome

My Pen: http://cdpn.io/yJqBj

This concerns the tutorial "3D Transforms Part 1".

I am using Chrome 31.0.

While the transform performs flawlessly in CodePen in Chrome, when testing the effect on the page I'm editing remotely (on my desktop) there is a "snapping" as the animation completes the transform.

I'm actually seeing this frequently when working on tutorials, i.e. when testing the effects locally it doesn't work as demonstrated, only after uploading to CodePen or maybe to a live site does it work. Is anyone else experiencing this?

EDIT

It seems I'm seeing the snapping in the "uploaded" version as well, but not as consistently.

(I don't even want to go into the results I'm getting in Safari (5.1.7), and IE (10), despite using -webkit- for the former.)

Found an answer here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/12206766/why-does-using-a-webkit-transition-with-text-result-in-the-text-snapping-at-the

-webkit-transform: translateZ(0);

I'll have to do more studying to learn WHY it works.
