Howdy,
Just looking for some tips, advice, experience and ideas here.
I've set myself a goal of 50 projects in a year, from today. The best way to learn is by doing!
What I am struggling with a little is thinking about some projects to get going. At the moment my focus has been HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript and WordPress.
So far I've came up with a few portfolio sites, developing my own themes and widgets for a couple of WordPress blogs, fully developing a couple of Wordpress blogs start to finish, and that's about it!
I currently struggle a bit with Javascript and PHP beyond the basics, so some specific ideas here would be grateful.
All in all id appreciate ideas across the board, maybe some insights into what you have done to challenge yourself and keep going.
Thanks in advance!

I haven't created anything as yet. I start today! But I'll try and remember to come back with some links!
Also on the programming front I feel the same at times. But we just need to stick with it!

Here is someone who made 180 websites in 180 days and someone else who made 100 websites in 100 days.
You can re-create some of the widgets on http://www.cssflow.com/snippets for some CSS and JavaScript practice.
Personally I like instant gratification so I make things on codepen when something strikes my fancy I've made a few dozen during my first year of learning to code.

4,357 PointsHey Darren,
I am new to programming and I started with front-end web development: html css and java script.
When I first started with Nick Petit, I built up a lot of confidence with the ability to change my career to a developer. After finishing html and moving onto CSS and having Guil as a teacher, my confidence level dropped.
I started feeling like I was no longer learning anything and for the first time I was not getting every answer right on the quiz and was hesitate with what I was actually doing.
I write this because after reading your post and you saying that you started a bunch of projects and built a few portfolio sites, I feel like that is what I should be doing along the way as I am studying and taking these courses.
Not sure if this helps you but what I found to be the best learning for me is while watching the videos I take notes and follow along. Sort of a journal and problems that I come across. Then I write the code over again so I can get in the habit of writing good code structure.
COuld you share your portfolio so I can get an idea of what you and others are doing?
all the best!
