General Discussion

advice? please

i'm such a newbie in all this coding. i started 2 weeks ago. just needed some clarification. In the future i plan on building apps, but for now one of my majors i'm working towards is information systems. i heard Javascript is a must. (if anyone says otherwise than please share). i wanted to ask... what is the difference between track and library? i was thinking of clicking on a track or library file to learn javascript, but i really don't know. i was going to start front end web development. Either way i would like to hear opinions? is that appropriate for a beginner?

If your goal is to make apps like for ios and android I would suggest getting into the android and ios tracks. If you never coded before (much like myself) I think the best place to start is with HTML and CSS. It's the best starting point to understand the very basics, and get a feel for building a website.

the difference between a track and the library is simply, a track lays out what you need to be able to know in order for you to do what that track name suggests, like font end dev is about designing websites with HTML, CSS and making them interactive through JavaScript. The library is about picking and choosing and going beyond the track scope. as an example, I'm in front end dev track, there is no design classes on that track, but I want to learn more about design, there is a bunch of classes on design in the library. Just have fun and learn, that's what this place is for.

thank you!
