I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this question (maybe I should post this at stackoverflow), but I have been using the bootstrap carousel for my website, but there are things about it that I'm having a tough time with and I was hoping someone could tell me if there's a better technique for what I'm aiming for.
I'm trying to make a website that has a carousel that goes through 3 pictures. Each picture has some wording on it and some additional pictures on it. So far I have done the first image, but it was pretty difficult as I had to use absolute position and then I had to use multiple media queries to make it responsive. Is there a better way to do this?
I was thinking rather than making it an <img>, I just make it a background: "picture.jpg".

You could try Orbit from Foundation.
If you aren't familiar with Foundation, Treehouse covers the basics in the Framework Basics Course.
I'm not sure if this will do exactly what you want, but it is an alternative to Bootstrap.
Keep Coding! :)
