Python Python Basics (2015) Python Data Types Use .split() and .join()

Am I using the split function incorrectly? (Python)

after putting the following I received a syntax error:

available = ["banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"] sundaes = available.split(;)

banana.py
available = ["banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"]
sundaes = available.split(;)

the semi colon needs to be in quotes

available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white" sundaes = available.split(';')

Don't change the line that was provided for you. And the argument you pass to "split" should be a string, so put quotes around it.

available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white" available.split(;)

This still gives me a syntax error

You still didn't put quotes around that semicolon. And where did the assignment to "sundaes" go?
