Another great question!

I develop for Android and iOS in Swift. It's my full time job.

What kind of computer are you using? Are you using Windows or Mac?

Almost all of the dev shops I've interviewed and worked at are using Macs. Overall, I find the platform is just easier to work on. If you're developing for iOS, you must get a Mac, or get JetBrains AppCode, which is built off of IntelliJ IDEA(which is what Android Studio is built from).

Android Studio usually runs pretty smoothly. Have you tried cleaning up your computer? It's a pretty big program, and it can take up a lot of resources since you're compiling, running, and rendering in the XML editor.

thanks a lot

will now try to get extra ram for my ultrabook

Just a quick heads up, you cannot code for iOS on a windows machine. You'll need to get a Mac.

I just saw that AppCode 3.1 requires Xcode to work properly.

i rechecked my system. i got already 8 gb ram, which is quite good. android studio requires only 4 gb ram. windows 8 also i cleaned up my ultrabook. i got a memory space of 28 gb. this must be sufficient

why is my android studio so extremly slow??? can anybody help??
