Any chance an iphone app is in the pipeline?

I know a ipad app exists and see that you just released an android app, but with the release of the 6 I imagine there is more than enough room to work with to create a functioning app of this site.

That's definitely something we'd like to do

That would be awesome. Second best decision you guys have made since bringing the business to my hometown in Portland OR

Have you come to visit the office yet?

No I have not, I wanted to go to the meetup tonight, but alas I have a conflicting issue. I will definitely be in attendance in the October session, and it's nice seeing innovative companies being brought to PDX instead of insisting on proximity to silicon valley for the sake of "legitimacy". Your product stands on its own and doesnt need some false pedigree based on location.

Alan Johnson Do you have any helpful tips to inspire someone such as myself who lives in PDX and aspires to be a programmer? I've been working really hard at it, but was a bit disappointed about getting rejected from the Hacker School in SF, and now I am postponing applying to other schools until I have a more robust portfolio.

PDX seems like a difficult market to breach as most of the positions listed are for Senior level. Any help would be appreciated, but Im sure youre plenty busy running and CEOing on the site haha

I think one of the best things you can do is just keep trying. In tech especially, there's always a fallback plan. Don't get into a hacker school? Learn on Treehouse. Can't get the job you want? Build software on your own. There's always another alternative, and a lot of the time you end up grateful in the end because it works out better.

I can't speak too well to the job market here in Portland and experience required, but I do know there are a lot of open positions and that lots of companies are having a hard time hiring. I'd recommend just keeping on trying - it's hard, but it's worth it.

Have you checked out our Career Resources page? Do you have a web page that shows off your work?

I've been working on building a portfolio website that showcases projects, but I've put it on the backburner cause Im really enamored by the Ruby on Rails projects you have hear (they are great!) and a few other resources to complement them. Maybe I should focus on that soon, although I do have a github account.

It's ok remember that a portfolio for a developer is about code, not about design, too. Just sharing links to projects you've worked on and solving some problems for yourself can go a long way.

Alan Johnson Thanks for all the suggestions, and taking time out of your busy schedule to help me.

Hopefully I will get the chance to meet you in person at the next workshop in October. Looking forward to it!
