3,312 PointsAnyone else having problems following JavaScript Basics?
The 3 courses that I've taken prior to starting the Javascript Basics (HTML Basics, CSS Basics, and Introduction to HTML and CSS) I was able to pick up fairly quickly and easily. The instructors taught it in such a way that they would explain what they were typing as they did it, which made it easy to understand. I don't mean any disrespect to Dave, but I'm having a hard time keeping up with his course. I think he just has a different way of teaching as he just starts writing the code and then explains it later on. It's making it harder for me to retain and I don't think I'm getting as much practice before going onto the quizzes and challenges, which I'm often looking up solutions for since I have no idea. Does anyone have any advice or resources that I should look into to make this a little easier for me?

Keep in mind that the things will go much more complicated with each step you take. The basics are just learning the letters of the alphabet but using whole sentences is a whole different thing :)

Courses Plus Student 6,734 PointsWell always remember that everything new in the beginning sounds hard even if its simple, JavaScript if really powerful and its easy to learn, if you can tell me what parts exactly you don't understand and i will try to make it clear for you do you have problems understanding arrays, object, variables etc..

19,836 PointsIf you're really struggling, try the basic JS stuff on Codecademy first. They baby you through it but then this should all be a little bit easier. Don't beat yourself up though, if you're new to coding, getting the logic down is pretty rough at first. I tried a few different resources as well and everywhere I picked up something useful, but ultimately I liked Treehouse the most.
