AppDelegate in Xcode 9 - No managedObjectContext

If the AppDelegate [Xcode 9 / Swift 4 / iOS 11] the 'new' method that you created matches the one that is auto created when Core Data is included.

However, the following is not in AppDelegate

    lazy var managedObjectContext: NSManagedObjectContext = {
        let container = self.persistentContainer
        return container.viewContext

Why is this (or will that be covered in a section that I have not gotten to)?
