Apple MacBook

What kind of MacBook do you all have or use? Air or Pro? What size screen? What do you use it for?

I currently have a 27" iMac for home use and have a 11" Air for when I need to leave the house. The 11" Air is super portable but if I were to buy another one it would probably be the 13" Air.

I currently use a MacBook Pro 13" late 2010 model that I recently purchased and installed new RAM in. (upgraded to 8GB) I use this when mobile.

I also have a 27" iMac mid 2011 I believe.. I use this in my home office.

I run Adobe creative suite CS6 on both, so Photoshop, Dreamweaver (at times) Illustrator, etc. I also use both of my systems for general "computing" along side work related tasks.

Is there a specific question I may be able to help you with Jimmy? :)

No just going to buy a MacBook after the holidays, I already have an 27' iMac but I want something a little more portable and versatile than my iPad. How do you keep your desktop and your MacBook synced?

@Jimmy,

I have an auto backup in place with Time Machine and occasionally I will use iCloud.

The easiest option would be to have a shared folder or drive in your home office. Here are a few ideas for you: http://www.maciverse.com/two-macs-and-keeping-things-together.html

I'm using a mid-2012 MacBook Pro, 15" with Retina. I mostly picked it up for Xcode, but have been using it as my daily computing device. Anytime I launch a game with Steam, the GPU jumps up to almost 70 C, so I try to avoid that on this.

I recently purchased the 15" Macbook Pro with Retina and have not regretted the purchase since. Never thought I would really care for the Retina screen but it really is a great display.

I use it for Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver (in that order) among other applications...

If you're choosing over size, I have had a 13 inch macbook previously. I have 15 inch macbook pro now and it's no more inconvenient or heavier to carry round, for me at least. Screen resolution is a big factor for me and the 15 inch was the perfect balance between portability and a reasonable resolution.

As far as portability Mac Air 13" is the way to go. You can get some great deals on Apple refurbed Macs here http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/mac/macbook_air/13

Drop Box is great for keeping files in sync across multiple devices (iPad, MacBook, iMac). I use it for Treehouse coding and it makes my life easier. I can pick up where I left off if I'm at home or work.

I love how it's just assumed that everyone has a Mac. I have a PC, always have. Never even had a laptop thus far. Of course, eventually that will need to be corrected...practicality. My simple explanation: If I had waited for access to the "right" tools to begin designing...I'd be waiting still.
