Assign variable to Document object, good/bad practice?

In a project where frequent DOM manipulation needs to be done, would it be a bad practice to assign a global variable to the Document object?

const d = document;

This in order to have shorter and simpler syntax:

d.getElementById('id');

No, it is not a good practice to do this, document is just a part of the global object, so there is no point in you doing this, it would be confusing for other reading your code, and it won't improve your code at all as well.
