Assigning value to the method?

Hello, I bumped on this code syntax in JavaScript:

object.method = function() {...}

What has happened here to the original method and what we have done? Also what would happen if this method is fired on some event type - for example on DOMContentLoaded? The assigned function would be runned then also?

If it exists the method is reassigned. If it doesn't exist the method is created. I created a workspace to demonstrate. Enter node app.js to run.

treehouse:~/workspace$ node app.js
