At what point do I and the client decide to work together?

In the video, Matt is talking about developing the brand strategy document and presenting this to the client. Is this before or after the client has decided to hire me? I've always been confused about what I'm supposed to do + say before the client hires me.

I would say afterwards.

You could always do an initial overview of what work will be completed to win the client, could draw on examples of previous work or industry best practice.

Then once you have won the client, you can present the Brand Strategy as part of the overall project (whatever that project is).

Otherwise, you would likely get too invested in the Brand Strategy, spend a lot of time and effort coming up with a plan tailored from them, only to lose out. They would likely still get value from it either way.

Hope this helps,

Martin

That makes sense! I was thinking it might be too involved to start with the brand strategy, and it does make sense that it's in the second stage so it would come after we agreed to work together. Lol. Thank you so much!
