Attribution for photos in HTML/CSS

Will be using food pics from the web for a personal website (non-commercial). What is the proper way to give credit to the source of photo(s)? Also, if I'm using a photo for a background image in CSS, is there a proper way I'm supposed to provide attribution in CSS as well?

Many thanks in advance.

Well, you'd want to make sure you do a reverse image search using google images or TinEye to make sure that its cool for you to use the image. Some images have to be paid for if you'd like to use them and its best to assume that if you can't find a Creative Commons license or anything similar, it's not free to use. Once you find license that says you can use it, there should be instructions on giving credit if that's even required by the photo owner.

I know that's not quite the answer you were probably looking for, but I just figured it was good information to take into account before grabbing pictures and putting them on your website.

Being a food blogger for 8+ years I can underscore the need for you to get permission from the photo's owner. Just because you are non-commercial doesn't mean you have permission. Some food bloggers are very competitive and get really upset if you use an image of theirs without permission.

I t is commendable that you want to post attributions for the images, but save yourself some grief and get permission first. The photo's owner will tell you how they would like to be attributed. They will usually ask you to title the photo with their name and a link to their site; anywhere the photo is posted on yours.

Thanks guys!

Make sure post a link to that food website so we can all take a look at it when you've got it up and running. Cheers mate.

I was looking for some various ways to cite images using HTML and stumbled across this question. Though this particular post doesn't answer my specific question, I thought it worthwhile to mention CC search:

https://ccsearch.creativecommons.org

Just search for what you want and they provide author information and HTML for the citation in the details of each result. It took me a while to find but think it can helps some people to share here. More details about the project and how it find images (and how to contribute) can be found here:
