5,360 PointsGotta agree with Dustin. Brackets is pretty awesome. I've been using it during the CSS Foundations course.

22,989 PointsI personally use Notepad++ and I love it.
It really all comes down to preference as most just....edit text. Some have cool features, like Notepad++ or Sublime, where they have keyboard shortcuts or highlight text.
My best suggestion would be to try out different editors and see which one you like best.

22,989 PointsFinding free royalty free stock images will be pretty hard (Any that are actually even kinda decent). I am not too sure about this, sorry :(

8,552 PointsI'm another Sublime user- seems to work similarly to Workspaces, so that is nice if you switch back and forth a lot. And free is always good.

It's worth noting that Sublime Text costs $70
However it does a free trial with no time limit.

14,516 PointsDean,
I use VI / VIM (VIM is basically VI with fancy colors). It takes some time to learn and it can be confusing at first, but trust me, it's definitely worth it. It is available on Windows, but I use it through the command line when I'm working on websites.
Here is where you can read more about VI / VIM.
I used Notepad++ for years before I finally made the switch, and now I don't even consider using it.

14,516 PointsI highly recommend Webfaction. They have very competitive rates, great customer support, and an easy-to-use admin panel. I have used them for several professional and personal projects.
