Best practices of using the <address> element?

The lesson suggests using the <address> tag to identify a postal address however the W3C HTML 5 spec states:

"The address element must not be used to represent arbitrary addresses (e.g. postal addresses), unless those addresses are in fact the relevant contact information. (The p element is the appropriate element for marking up postal addresses in general.)"

Is this use of <address> a carryover practice from previous HTML specs that should be done away with? I've read something about using hCards instead.

Because Nick is the person writing the content and it's Nick's postal address, this is in keeping with the spec.

Thanks James!
