With technology moving and changing to fast what is the best resource for really learning the ins and outs of SEO and SEO content writing?
Most books are outdated and there is so much pixie and fairy dust around SEO as everyone is trying to sell you the most amazing software/book/membership for learning the most guarded and hush hush secrets that will be revealed apparently to no one else but you....sick and tired of searching...

- The Beginner's Guide to SEO from seomoz.org
- SEO Fundamentals course from Lynda.com
If you are in hurry there's Search Engine Optimization Tips for Beginners

3,332 PointsI had a look at seomoz a while ago but turned away once I saw they were trying to sell me a $99/month membership and Lynda.com is also membership based, although they do have a lot of other courses that interest me so I might join.

39,199 Points@Chris - The beginner's guide at seomoz is free.
Lynda.com is worth the money, just like Treehouse

2,008 PointsHey Chris,
Thought I'd chime in here. As James pointed out, the SEOmoz beginner's guide is a great resource to start with.
Here's a post that will help guide you as well: How To Learn SEO
After you've read those, I recommend you go out there and begin experimenting on your own. Books and blog posts are a great place to start, but they'll never replace the experience you'll get from learning out in the wild.
Try testing out different things with your own website and figure out what works and what doesn't .
One important thing to note is SEO is rapidly converging with other marketing channels and it's important that you don't silo SEO into its own bucket. SEO ties in with content, e-mail, conversion optimization, PPC, and much more.
If you're a little lost on how you can drive organic traffic to your site, I'm including two posts that I wrote:
How Guest posting Propelled One Site From 0 to 100,000 Customers
From 0 to 3 Million Monthly Visitors: Learn One Man's Proven Strategy
Hope that helps!
