I am in the process of job hunting and was told that I needed to build a portfolio. What is the best, fastest way to to so? Does Teamtreehous have anything on that?
I should add that I have built/maintained about 8 sites using dreamweaver over a period of 8 years but, as I recently (past 4 months) furthered my knowledge of HTML, CSS and some Javascript, I noticed that the code quality from Dreamweaver used was heavy handed and even outdated. I did show my latest site to some prospective employers and friends and they agreed about the code quality.

4,236 PointsThe best way to get a portfolio going is as simple as it sounds, make websites for people. If you're only just starting out, you might find it would be easier to offer these unpaid. IT would then give you a basis of projects that you have developed.
If you want me to answer more specific questions, i am happy to :D

6,897 PointsThank you Scott, I don't mind doing that or assisting in/be part of the development of a site! I did put the word out locally. I am open to offers within the US, UK or France. One recruiter mentioned putting together basic sites just to show my coding style and knowledge. It seems that it would be faster than workings on a full job project. I was hoping that TeamTreeHouse would have a site building project that I can customize and make personal.

6,897 PointsHi Scott, I have a good understanding of the steps that need to be taken to build the site from defining the project, wirefarming (content placement), laying out HTML elements then creating CSS files for page styling and javascript files for user interaction (My javascript knowledge is on the lighter side for now). I am most comfortable with front end development. I have no problem working on project that may require making changes to pages or finding errors in the code. I have also worked with Adobe Photoshop to extract elements in a mockup and retrieve needed information such as colors to be used in site development. I hope that answers your question! Thanks again!

Why don't you make yourself a portfolio website? That way you can have it how you want and you can also use it as a platform to showcase other stuff you have done!
