Building a website that lists places near by. It's similar to Yellow Pages.

I'm taking the front end course currently, and as soon as I finish I want to start the backend. I want it exactly like Yellow Pages. I previously said I didn't want to use WordPress but if that is the best tool out there then I guess that's it. Any leads to what I should look into?

I really think you should use WordPress. It is a really powerfull tool!

Why wouldn't I able to use Ruby and then use github to get the code for Yellow Pages?
