Hey guys,
I've been learning on Treehouse for about 2-3 months now and am making some steady progress with this site, reading a few books and getting into a few projects. However, I constantly spend hours trying to solve problems and can possibly be being lead down the wrong paths with a few things - which I think I could avoid if I just hired a tutor to guide me a bit.
I've searched on Google and just found a few websites with some generic profiles for university computer science tutors. I've contacted a few, but none really seem very motivated to teach much beyond 1st year university stuff (i.e. no real-world application).
Can anyone recommend where to find a Web Development Tutor/Coach?

I can't recommend a tutor or coach, but I would very strongly recommend that you look for a local meetup you might be able to attend on a weekly basis. If there is one in your area (check out meetup.com), it can be a huge help - probably almost as helpful as a dedicated coach would be - and it's free! It also lets you start making connections in the industry and learning to talk like a developer.
Good luck!

30,747 PointsHey Greg,
Thanks for the response - I've joined heaps of those in Melbourne, AUS. I haven't been yet, but they seem to get loads of people to the meet ups, so I'll definitely check them out.
I might be able to find a tutor at a meet up, but I think I'd prefer a one-on-one type thing where I can just cut to the chase and get the help I need, rather than befriending people and digging for info over social drinks.

39,021 PointsI go to a meetup here in Portland, OR at which there are a few professional developers who go around and help people 1:1 or in small groups to help them work through problems they have. No drinks - just code :). If you can find one like that (look for a meetup that mentions mentorship), it sounds like exactly what you need.
