Can font color, in css styling, be a link to a gif?

my goal is to get my font color to be a gif, meaning the color is always changing. possible? or would i have to just create that in photoshop?

I do not believe the color property will not accept a url as a value. You would need to either create the file in Photoshop and embed the animated gif, or possibly leverage CSS3 animations & transitions.

I think the CSS animation would be the best route for semantics (best to avoid text in images). If it's a critical part of the design that absolutely everyone must see then you could consider a gif.

There's a line between things you can do and things you shouldn't do because it's poor design, poor accessibility or leads to poor user experience. It's hard to say for sure without knowing more about the problem you are trying to solve.

I was just imagining, I've always had a thought of font with acid trip hue changing properties. I'd love to start building creative pages, just as a monument in the world of the internet. Thanks for the replies :)
