Can I learn C# on macOS using the new VisualStudio Beta or Visual Studio Core?

The only machine I have is a Mac and I do not want to install Windows on it nor run a VM, can I follow along the C# tracks by just using VS Code or the new Visual Studio Beta for Mac ?

Yep, you can follow along the courses so long as you have a program w/ support for C#.

The main difference between the two you mentioned are: Visual Studio Code is mainly a text editor; whereas Visual Studio for mac is a full-fledged IDE. Both should work fine for the purpose of following along w/ the C# courses here; if you must choose one, I recommend VS for Mac, as it closely resembled its Windows counterpart, which is what the instructor used during the lectures.

You should install Visual Studio for Mac Preview. Latest version especially build for Mac users. Quite handy. I am currently using it. It is super smooth . You will love coding on it.

I tried installing some other visual studio tools on my mac. And found them getting crashed repeatedly. I definitely recommend going for Visual Studio for Mac Preview on Macbook/IMac
