Can I put database files on GitHub?

I am working on a project that uses a MySQL Workbench database.

Can I move my .mwb file to GitHub so other people can download it and Import it into Workbench?

Can someone point me to a GitHub project that might be doing something similar?

Here's what I would do:

Upload an empty Schema file to Github, as an SQL Script, and then write another SQL Script that INSERTS all the data into your empty Schema. For an Example of the concept, see: Sakila Sample Database, specifically Section 4 - Installation
