means "or", &&
means "and".
Say you have a conditional statement:
if ( 2 > 4 || 7 > 3 ) {}
You would read this as If 2 is bigger than 4 or 7 is bigger than 3. The statement would evaluate to true because 7 is bigger than 3.
If the conditional statement was
if ( 2 > 4 && 7 > 3 ) {}
the statement would evaluate to false because it needs both 2 > 4 and 7 > 3 to be true.
