Java Java Objects Harnessing the Power of Objects Increment and Decrement

Can someone help me with this? I wasn't told to create a new drive method...

I don't get why it says "In your newly created drive method" when I didn't create one...

GoKart.java
class GoKart {
  public static final int MAX_BARS = 8;
  private String color;
  private int barCount;

  public GoKart(String color) {
    this.color = color;
  }

  public String getColor() {
    return color;
  }

  public void charge() {
    barCount = MAX_BARS;
  }

  private int lapsDriven;

  public boolean drive() {
  boolean lapsDriven = false;
    if (!isFullyCharged()) {
    barCount--;
      lapsDriven = true;
    }
    return void lapsDriven;
  }

  public boolean isBatteryEmpty() {
  }

  public boolean isFullyCharged() {
    return MAX_BARS == barCount;
  }
}

Hi Ernest,

I'm seeing a method named drive in your code that you provided. Is that one that you made or was it already there? I loaded up the challenge, and when I got to that portion there wasn't a drive method. The instructions then say:

Great! Now let's write a simple drive method. It should be public and not return anything. We'll start out basic, calling the drive method will make the GoKart drive a single lap.

In your newly created drive method, increment the new lapsDriven variable by 1. Use the incrementing shorthand to increase lapsDriven.

If you did not create that method you might want to reset the challenge to make sure you're starting on a fresh slate.
