Cannot open notepad html text in a browser

Hello, I am following HTML global structure 1 and 2 along the treehouse-directed tracks. I am using Notepad to type in the html text. I do not know what name to save it with. If it has txt at the end, can I open it in a browser?Help again is appreciated. See below ```<!doctype html>

<html lang="en"> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"> <title>Jane's Page</title> </head> <body> <div>This is a <span>div</span>.</div> <span></span>
</body> </html>

Hello again too, unless you specify the location of the file precisely then the browser will not be able to find the file. e.g. C:\Users\Desktop\file\destination\example.html

What you are best off doing is selecting the html file, right clicking it and 'open with' your prefered browser. That will stop you having to type the correct file destination in the address bar.

Also i noticed that you said you saved your file as 'about Jane.html' this is an invalid name for a file it should have no spaces, so you could put 'about_Jane.html' instead, or just 'Jane.html'.

Goodluck.

No save it for example like this: "filename.html" otherwise the browser won't recognize the extension file type. If you need more explanation let me know.

Yea just make it like index.html about.html etc. this should make it work good luck :D

Hi again! in Notepad txt editior, I saved the html text I had typed in as per Nick's video. I saved this txt file as 'about Jane.html.' Then I went to a browser and typed that address in. What came up were several lists with the words Jane in them. I couldn't find it. What did I do wrong?
