When i type the following: int randomNumber = new randomGenerator.nextInt(3);

Android studio gives a cannot resolve symbol for nextInt(3). I cannot figure out why it is so.

You are using randomGenerator instead of Random.

The code should be as follows. Note the use of Random() instead of randomGenerator()

int randomNumber = new Random().nextInt(3);
