arg[0] and arg[1] are meant to be used in the constructor of the User class, as the comment suggests:

public class Example {

  public static void main(String[] args) {
    System.out.println("Starting forum example...");
    if (args.length < 2) {
       System.out.println("first and last name are required. eg:  java Example Craig Dennis");
    }
    Forum forum = new Forum("Java");
    // Take the first two elements passed args
    User author = new User(args[0], args[1]);
    // Add the author, title and description
    ForumPost post = new ForumPost(author,"Earned the badge"," I completed my second course on java");
    forum.addPost(post);
  }
}

Yeah I realized that after I commented. However, your User class constructor is setup to receive two arguments, I didn't see where those arguments (firstName & lastName) were input when using User as an object; I would look into this as being your first step into investigating your problem.

firstName and lastName are passed in as arg[0] and arg[1]:

User author = new User(args[0], args[1]);

Yes, I just completed the challenge that you are and Kourosh is right about those things. Mayank, did you get this challenge completed?

"private User Author" is probably what is messing you up. Try: private String author;

Actually, mAuthor should be of type User and not String.
