Can't complete the exercie because of "java.lang.NullPointerException".

Hi everybody! I'm on the Local "developement environments" and i try to finish the exercice Treehouse2. My programme works on my computer but when I check it I get a lovely:

"Bummer! java.lang.NullPointerException (Look around Prompter.java line 73)".

My question is: "Why it works on my computer but not on the treehouse check?"

pseudo-tests.md
# This is essentially what I am testing
1. The user is prompted for a new string template (the one with the double underscores in it).

  a. The prompter class has a new method that prompts for the story template, and that method is called.

2. The user is then prompted for each word that has been double underscored.

   a. The answer is checked to see if it is contained in the censored words.
      User is continually prompted until they enter a valid word

3. The user is presented with the completed story

Hi Yves....

You need to pay more attention to the pseudo-test page. It requires you to make some revisions to your code:

  1. It require you to prompt to the user their own story using the intended format like: name or adjective
  2. You need to catch IOException in Main class but to do this you need something to throw it if necessary
  3. You should use Prompter.run(Template tmpl) method rather than processing it from Main.

I already answer similar question and put some code as example and clue for revision you can check it out here

I hope this can help a little.

Thank you for your help! You said in the linked post that your code answer for the 2 and the 3. I tried and I still stuck in this exercice with "Bummer! Looks like you didn't present the TreeStory (3)". I tried many things but can't find the way :/

Hi Yves.....

Have you add this getStroy() method in your Prompter.java class?

public String getStory() throws IOException{
        System.out.printf("type your story: ");
        String story = mReader.readLine();
        return story;
    }

This is the part which answers the first of the three. I hope this can help
