can't remove child

I've tried firstListItem.removeChild('li');

and also firstItemList.removeChild('first');

but nothing.

The variable referencing the list is "myList", and the one referencing the child element is "firstListItem".

So the correct syntax would be:

myList.removeChild(firstListItem);
