Can't seem to get the background to change colors.

.wildlife { color: white; background-color: #434a52; }

  <div class:"wildlife">

Check out all the Wildlife

      As spawning season approaches, the fish acquire a humpback and protuberant jaw. After spawning, they die and their carcasses provide a feast for gatherings of mink, bears, and bald eagles.

The background color does not want to change in my preview and I am unsure as to what it wrong.

The class is followed by an equal sign and not colons.

I was pulling hair out frustrated. Thank you so much.
