I'm not sure if I am doing right for assigning a value between 1 and 5.
angular.module('foobar', [])
.controller("coolCtrl", function($scope) {
$scope.helloWorld = function() {
$scope.someNumber = 4;
};
});

13,599 PointsYou have the right idea. But in your controller's callback function you do not need set a function expression to $scope.
angular.module('foobar', [])
.controller('coolCtrl', function($scope){
$scope.someNumber = 4
})
