6,956 PointsChoosing a Techdegree.
Hi There! I've been working on the Front End Development Techdegree, have made it through the first three projects, and am plugging my way through JavaScript. While I really enjoyed html and css, I'm not really enjoying the JavaScript section. It was suggested to me to try out various languages and see which ones I prefer. If I'm not enjoying JavaScript, does that mean I should consider a different Techdegree? If so, would you have any suggestions for which one to try next?

174 PointsI would be willing to bet if you push through, you will end up enjoying it. JavaScript and any other programming language is difficult to learn and this can be very frustrating and discouraging. HTML and CSS also take effort to learn but you can typically break through the barriers with these much quicker.
If you are still in the beginning of JavaScript, odds are you are learning things that will be shared (with some syntax changes) between most languages. I don't believe you should try a different programming language yet. Do what you need to to not discouraged when you are struggling with JavaScript. It's okay if what you're doing isn't making sense right now. That's normal. Keep with it, enjoy the successes you have and more will come. With practice, what you are doing will make more and more sense. And since you had to really work for it (everyone does, if anyone says it's easy to learn, they just don't remember their struggle) you will appreciate it more than the HTML and CSS you learned.
