CSS CSS Layout Basics Page Layout with the Float Property Footer Layout with Floats

Cleafix a text inside a paragraph?

The copyright text in the footer needs to be moved down below the floated elements. Select .copyright and apply the property and value that clears both the left and right float.

I need help. I've been on this for over an hour.
style.css
/* Complete the challenge by writing CSS below */

.clearfix::after {
  content: "";
  display: table;
  clear: both;
}
.footer-nav, .footer-nav li {

  float: left;
  display: inline-block;
}

.logo {

  float: right;

}

.footer (

}

.copyright  {
  clearfix::after copyright;
  content: "":
  display: block;
  clear: both;
}

Hey anthony! So when they say select the property and value that clears the floats they are actually referring to this:

clear: both;

As shown in the css inside class clearfix it is meant to clear floats to prevent other elements in the document from display changes. So they want you to take the copyright element and move it outside of the footer, then they want you to apply clear: both; to the copyright, since in this case the copyright is not meant to be a float. I've posted a solution below so you can compare your code and understand where you went wrong. Hope this helps :)

Solution:

html:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
    <title>Getting Started with CSS Layout</title>
    <link href='https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Varela+Round' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="page.css">
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css">
</head>
    <body>
    <div class="container">
        <footer class='clearfix'>
            <img class="logo" src="city-logo.svg" alt="logo">
            <ul class="footer-nav">
                <li><a href="#">Ice cream</a></li>
                <li><a href="#">Donuts</a></li>
                <li><a href="#">Tea</a></li>
                <li><a href="#">Coffee</a></li>
            </ul>
        </footer>
    <p class="copyright">&copy;2015 The Best City.</p>
    </div>
    </body>
</html>

css:

.clearfix::after {
  content: "";
  display: table;
  clear: both;
}

.footer-nav{
  float:left;
}

.footer-nav li{
  float: left;
}

.logo{
  float:right;
}

.copyright{
  clear: both;
}

mplete the challenge by writing CSS below */

.logo { float: right; } .footer-nav li { float: left; } .clearfix::after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; }
.copyright::after { content: ""; clear: both;

}

BUT IT STILL DIDN'T WORK!!

You're overthinking it..

You have: .copyright::after { content: ""; clear: both;} It should be: .copyright { clear: both;}
