Code challenge question

Hi,

I managed to pass the code challenge with the code below, but I'm a bit confused with what var previewTImer is used for. I can't really see it being called anywhere.

js/app.js
//Select the input for the title for blog post.
var $titleInput = $("#title");

//Select the preview h1 tag
var $previewTitle = $("#titlePreview");

// Every second update the preview
var previewTimer = setInterval(updatePreview, 1000);

function updatePreview(){
  //Get the user's input
  var titleValue = $titleInput.val();;
  //Set the user input as the preview title.
  $previewTitle.text(titleValue);
}
index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
  <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="theme.css">
</head>
<body>
  <div id="form">
    <label for="title">Blog Post Title</label><input id="title" name="title" value="" placeholder="Enter your blog title here">
  </div>
  <div id="preview">
    <h1 id="titlePreview"></h1>
  </div>
  <script src="//code.jquery.com/jquery-1.11.0.min.js" type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"></script>
  <script src="js/app.js" type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"></script>
</body>
</html>
theme.css
  #form {
    width: 45%;
    float: left;
  }
  #preview {
    width: 45%;
    float: right;
  }
  label {
    width: 20%;
    display: inline-block;
  }
  input {
    width: 70%;
  }

previewTimer calls the updatePreview function every second. If you bump up the number from 1000 to, say, 5000, then go into the preview and type some stuff into the input field, it will take a few seconds for that text to populate as an H1 tag (assuming you also put in the code needed to complete the challenge).
