Hi folks. I'm aware that it basically comes down to personal preference when deciding which new language to learn (from a general standpoint), but my main goal is to ultimately create a statistics-driven website and mobile app.
Is either PHP or Ruby "better" -- or perhaps more intuitive -- than the other for this? Or is it still a case of each being a different means to the same end?

23,800 PointsPersonally, I say PHP. I can tell you from my experience that it's extremely easy to set up and pair with a mysql database, even for someone with little to no experience. I have no experience with Ruby, but from what I have read and been told, setting up that environment is a bit more complicated and may not be a good choice for someone with limited experience. Your right about the personal preference, but I say check out PHP.
