Collection of DOM elements vs Jquery objects?

I don't understand what the difference was here. She was talking about differences in what Javascript vs Jquery returned.

The browser uses JavasScript DOM objects to render the webpage. jQuery objects are wrappers around one or more DOM elements, and allow access to the DOM elements in a more effective way.
