JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Storing and Tracking Information with Variables Using String Methods

combining strings

can anyone clarify this below problem to me? Complete the assignment to the userName variable by adding a # symbol followed by an all uppercase version of the lastName variable. In other words, using string concatenation so that the final value of userName is "23188XTR#SMITH".

app.js
var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName= alert(id.toUpperCase())+'#'+alert(lastName.toUpperCase());
//var lname=alert()

Hi Rupesh,

The task asks for a "#" inbetween the id and the username, it also asks for the name "Smith" to be uppercase, like so:

var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase();
userName = userName + '#' + lastName.toUpperCase();

This outputs the following: "23188XTR#SMITH"

hope this helps!!
