Concern about the amount of javascript in the ruby on rails track

New to treehouse but not necessarily coding. I want to get better at ruby on rails so I enrolled in the track. I have a problem with the track including so much javascript at the same level as ruby basics before getting to rails. There is so much to learn among these topics that throwing in that much javascript at the beginning can have a negative impact. I know that javascript can be (and probably is) used extensively in web applications but I feel that it's not the appropriate time to introduce the same programming concepts with different syntax so early in the track. I feel that JS should be an elective to the course or reserved for later in the track. Since rails revolves around ruby, it should be the focus, not something learned in parallel to another scripting language.
