The first line refers the console object to the variable console.

Basically without it you'd have to write System.console.printf("Hello my name is Diego") every time;

With the first line of code you just say to the computer: "Okay I want System.console to become console"

Try changing "Console console = System.console;" to "Console csl = System.console();"

Now you can output text using "csl.printf("Hi my name is Diego");"
