Can I see your index.html code? Other than that, the CSS code looks correct for me.

In your index.html code you have a style element that makes the footer blue, you should delete that, so it takes the color from the CSS file code instead. Delete this from index.html:

<style> footer { color: blue; } </style>

Also you have a colon after the copyright entity, there should be a semicolon after the word "&copy":

<p>&copy; 2016 Doug Hudson</p>

Hope this helps! :)

ohhhh ok! I had thought css cancel'd out the html color code. Also thanks for pointing out the copy:(;) mistake! Really appreciate the help! Cheers!

you should try adding the style to the head of the document and use a class or id for footer because classes and id's are more specific than element selector
